Dr. Henry (Hank) Van Hala became interested in the idea of pursuing dentistry at the age of 12. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in 1970 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1974.
“It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been 43 years since I began my career.”
The practice’s mission statement focuses on serving and educating the patient population, while providing the latest and best technologies available. The office has been used frequently to introduce other northeast Ohio dentists to these emerging technologies.
As a general dentist, Dr. Van Hala feels that it is important to provide a broad range of services. Dr. Van Hala spent a year of post graduate training in surgery. He also has extensive training in dental sleep medicine, treating obstructive sleep apnea with an oral sleep device. He personally vouches for the efficacy of the oral sleep device, since he himself has worn one since 1991. He is a member of the American, Ohio, and Stark County Dental Associations.
Dr. Van Hala is married to his high school sweetheart of 46 years. When not in the office, he enjoys playing golf, fishing, building cars and reading. He currently serves on the elder board at his church, where he also co-teaches second graders. He is frequently asked about retirement and his response is, “I still love what I do. Why would I retire?” Two of his greatest joys are doing dental/medical missions around the world and being with his six grandchildren.
